Hawaii - Part 3 of 3

Colin had to show Kiana how to use the board
Before Colin was playing with it she wanted nothing to do with it! Now she seems to be a little more interested in it.

My copycat girl in action, she just needed to see someone else do it and she was off! She actually swam with it for a few minutes!

Last day at the beach!

Even after walking now for two weeks, walking in the sand was still too difficult to do on her own.

We always took pictures by the surfboard in the past, now it was Kiana's turn! She was a little skeptic!

Sea turtles are a common thing to see off the shore across from the condo.

Beautiful waterfall on the north side of the island

Spouting Horn

Kiana's newest trick, hiding her toys under everything! Unfortunately their a lot harder to play with once their stuck underneath.

Headed home on Xmas eve, it was Xmas morning when we arrived home so Kiana got to wear her Xmas pajamas on the plane.

Past Pictures Overload-Birthday/Swimming

I know...I know...I know...I haven't posted in a long time. So the next couple posts are going to just be primarily picture overloads. The following are taken at Chucky Cheese's where we had Kiana's birthday party.

Opening presents...

Kiana suckered a bite before we even got to sing Happy Birthday!

You can't go to Chucky Cheese's without playing a little skee-ball!

Kiana was a little skeptic about the moving Chucky on stage, but she seems ok with him. So we decided to ask them if they could bring out the real Chucky.

Not quite the same reaction!

After watching a dozen other kids give him a hug...this was still as close as she was going to get.
The next day Kiana got to try her first bite of ice cream

It wasn't quite a big hit at first, but now it's definitely a favorite.

This was Kiana's last swim class...for this class they got to play a little bit in the kids pool.

For some reason anytime I try putting any type of flotation device on or around Kiana so she can float on her own she freaks out. We're going to have to work on that one if she's going to ever swim on her own!

We Have a Walker!!!!!

We are so excited to announce that Kiana has officially started walking on her own tonight! She took her first independent step about a month ago, and has been slowly increasing the number of steps she'll take at a time. Tonight when we were doing our usual nightly practice walking between mommy and daddy, or in other words tiring her out enough to go to bed, I said to Grant, "I wish she would just let go on her own." Two seconds later I stood her next to the ottoman and she just instantly let go and walked to daddy! Afterwards, Grant started chasing Kiana around the coffee table. After about the third time around the table Kiana was so excited she just let go and walked across the room to get to me. We were all so shocked and proud of her we just started laughing. Now we know we are in real trouble, because for the rest of the night every time stood her next to the couch or table and walked away we'd turn around to find her walking right behind us! We just got to Hawaii yesterday, and she was so excited about putting her feet in the sand today! She must have known that she better learn to walk if she's she's going to be able to run on the beach! Here's a video of her following mommy around the room!

I have lots of birthday pictures still to put up, so check back soon!

Happy Birthday Kiana!!!

Happy Birthday Kiana! It has been a fun filled weekend for Kiana! Our little girl has grown up so much in the last month. At her appointment this month she weighed 16 pounds 13 ounces and measured 27.25 inches. She's still a little munchkin, but at least this month were back on the scale. She's currently in the 3rd percentile for weight and the 10th for length. At her 9 month appointment she fell below the scale for weight and was barely in the 3rd percentile for length. This month has been big for her, because she took her first independent step a couple weeks ago. So we're now in the early walking stages, scary! She's taken up to 7 steps on her own, but as soon as she gets close to you she likes to just dive into you.

She's also gotten good at patty cake! She does it on her own now too, or at least to the rolling stage.st What we have enjoyed the most is that she also has become an extremely loving little girl. If you ask her to give you, her dolls or any of her toys a hug she'll lean her head into yours or on your chest.

On Kiana's birthday she got to try cake for the first time. When we went to the store she got really excited when she saw a Dora cake, so that's what she got! She actually didn't like it too much. The frosting was better then the cake, but I'm pretty sure she had more fun just playing and destroying the cake!

For Kiana's first birthday she actually got her first car! She was so excited about her Barbie Jeep, just wait till she realizes she can actually drive it! I'm sure this won't come to good use till this summer, but it was something we couldn't pass us!

Here are some older pictures from the last week. For Thanksgiving Kiana got a real plate of food, she was a real fan of the cranberry sauce! She also got to try turkey for the first time, up until now Kiana has been a vegetarian.
Here she is checking out her new soccer slippers.
