Hawaii-Part 1 of 3

We're off!!! We were lucky enough to get a whole row to ourselves on the long flight out to Hawaii. From Phoenix to Hawaii the flight was seven hours. We weren't sure how Kiana was going to do, since she doesn't like to sit still anymore. I think during the seven hour flight she slept about a total of three hours, so we had more hours of entertaining a toddler than we had hoped for. After a lot of snacks and reading the same book over and over again we finally made it! Kiana had a very productive trip to Hawaii. The second night we were there she started walking on her own for the first time, she got her first tooth the second week we were there, she learned how to color a picture, and she got to swim in the ocean for the first time!

Kiana's first steps on the beach!

The ocean really scared her the first time the tide came up, but after a few time she loved it and kept wanting us to walk her closer! We were having so much fun playing in the water we almost forgot that her diapers aren't supposed to get soaking wet!

After a quick wardrobe change into her swimsuit we were back at the beach!

She's giving me her best Shirley Temple impression

The second week we were there Will, Erin, Colin, Denese and Hanna showed up. Not a bad location for a family reunion, huh?

Right after I took this picture I realized what the faces were for. Apparently the kids don't think sand tastes very good.

Hawaii - Part 2 of 3

It was great to be able to have family with so that we could spend one adult night out with Will & Erin. We went to our favorite restaurant on the island, Tidepools at the Grand Hyatt.

Hanna and the guys went ziplining one morning. This was definitely our favorite activity we did on our honeymoon and I think they all had a blast as well.

There goes Grandpa Frank

With all of Grant's repelling experience, he was having more fun showing them how to do different positions. Here are the guys upside down, Grant is on the left and Will is on the right.
Hanna joined in the upside down fun!

Here's Kiana greeting our morning visitor!

Hanna did a good job at wearing her out!

Kiana's first drawing!

One of the local communities held a Christmas Parade one night! It was nice to be able to get into into the Christmas spirit a little bit. Being in Hawaii over Christmas felt a little strange.

A new habit that we loved was Kiana coming over to you and just either falling into you or grabbing your legs if your standing. We've been enjoying the new snuggling...hopefully it lasts for awhile.

This is also a new habit! Kiana puts the paci to the side of her mouth and sticks out her tongue. I think it is time we take it away!

Having all of us in close quarters it was hard to get Kiana to take her naps. We quickly realized that a quick swim always seemed to wear her out!

One day the offered free scuba lessons in the pool. Will and Hanna seemed a little skeptic, but afterwards I think they wished we had more time and would have liked to have tried it in the ocean. Something about requiring so many hours afterwards before you get on an airplane.

While we were there we tried to get a good family photo. Here a few good ones.
